Good Morning!

“Since Jesus went through everything you’re going through and more, learn to think like him. Think of your sufferings as a weaning from that old sinful habit of always expecting to get your own way. Then you’ll be able to live out your days free to pursue what God wants instead of being tyrannized by what you want.”
1 Peter 4:1-2 MSG

There is freedom in generous living that can never be found in selfish pursuits.

"Why must I endure this season?" It's a valid question in the midst of hardship. Difficulties come along and erode the foundations of our life. Hardship, in the words of Marty McFly, is heavy! How much longer?

Peter reminds us that these struggles we face can become a tool for change in our lives. We can adjust our focus off of what we want, and onto what God wants.

In the midst of dark days, we can ask God for his viewpoint. "Abba, what do you want me to focus on right now? I want to move forward, and I want to see whatever you want me to see. Reveal your path."

It's a simple prayer that is not guaranteed to produce revelation. It's sure to give us a change of focus. We can be on watch for what God wants and let go of our self-interested desires.

As we enter Christmas, let's learn to grab on to the joy of generosity. Let's choose to let go of our own wants and take hold of what God wants. Jesus said he'd prefer an easier path, but he gave up his will to fulfill Abba's. Let's live like Jesus!

Blessings today and always!

Merry Christmas Eve Eve! –M
